“The workshop was great, very useful. Great layout and enjoyed opportunities for questions and discussions.”

While this Fellowship is looking broadly at ways to engage with the family and community of first-in-family learners, a key facet is working closely with two case study sites, namely UOW and UNSW. In both sites, I am working with key programs Aspire at UNSW and  UOW’s In2Uni program. The aim of working directly with two programs is to engage in strategic planning that is relevant to the specific contexts of the programs involved. On 5th April, I had the opportunity to meet with the Aspire team and other stakeholders to deliver a planning / reflective workshop on first-in-family students. Further meetings will occur in May and June as we consider ways to engage parents through Aspire’s Community Hubs. My work with In2Uni has involved work with mentors and I will be trialling some parent workshops later in the year.
